Staring down the barrel of thirty, Cadence Moore is anything but flirty and thriving. Her faith in love is botched thanks to her marketing job on the newsletter at SoulMap—a biotech company that provides clients with the exact date they met their soulmate through memory analysis. After another month of delivering less than heartfelt articles, she’s on the verge of getting canned. She receives an ultimatum: write an engrossing love testimonial for next month’s marketing cycle, or lose her job and, subsequently, her apartment in the only city that’s felt like home.
Making matters worse, her parents are divorcing, all thanks to their own SoulMap results (go figure). With their asset split finalized, they plan to sell their vacation home on Lake Winnie, leaving her mother in need of help packing up the house. Cadence, desperate for inspiration for her job outside of her day to day life, and determined not to ruin her final standing familial relationship with her brother, agrees to travel north to assist.
Thirty days on Lake Winnie doesn’t sound so bad, until she’s juggling the dreaded writer’s block with mending a fractured mother-daughter relationship. In a desperate attempt to get her creativity flowing, Cadence joins a writing group run by local (and let’s face it—dreamy) English professor, Parker Thomas. His distaste for her company’s mission is clear, leading Cadence to hide her true intentions for joining. But as their poetic chemistry develops into much more than words on paper, it’s not only Cadence’s job on the line—her heart is, too.
